Deoksugung Palace

Deoksugung Palace was originally built for Wolsandaegun
(1254-1488) the older brother of King Sejong. After 1611,
it became an official palace for the kings and a temporary
residence. The area consisted of residential buildings for
descendants of the royal family. The name of the Deoksugung
means palace of virtuous longevity. The palace had encompassed
a large area with many buildings, but now only a few buildings
remain of the original complex.
